Measles is a highly contagious disease caused by a virus. It spreads easily when an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes. Measles can affect anyone, but it’s most common in children. It can cause severe disease, complications, and even death.
GEPH has declared a measles outbreak in the region. Fortunately, measles is preventable by vaccination. Two doses of the MMR vaccine provide 99% immunity against infection.
