Grand Erie Public Health works with licensed childcare centres to help maintain healthy and safe environments.
Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) provide a variety of services to licensed childcare centres. PHIs conduct compliance inspections, follow up on complaints, assist in outbreak and emergency management, provide educational materials, and consult on structural changes, policies, and procedures at the centres.

The number one priority of childcare centres is the health and safety of those in their care. GEPH provides information on how to keep toys, equipment, and surfaces clean in the centre. Learn about optimal water temperatures for use by children and how to ensure good air quality.
We also provide templates to help you track illnesses among those in your care. Keeping track of symptoms will help you control the spread of viruses.

Below are helpful templates and resources for licensed childcare operators. These tools support routine reporting, tracking, and outbreak management. Download and use them as needed in your daily operations.
Outbreak notification form
Use this form to notify GEPH of an increase in illness in your childcare centre. Complete the line list (see below) to report individual cases. This form can be emailed or uploaded to your ShareFile account. If you are reporting an outbreak after hours, please call 519‑753‑4937 for Brantford-Brant or 519-900-9600 for Haldimand-Norfolk and stay on the line to be transferred to our on-call answering service.

Use this log to record pest‑control monitoring activities or adapt it to create your own log.
Temperature log template
Temperature logs can help you notice equipment failures and identify where temperature abuse may have occurred. While not required, logs are recommended. Use or adapt the template below.
