It’s Safe Sleep Week from March 10-14. We are highlighting safe sleep practices for babies to help bring awareness and reduce the risk of infant sleep-related injuries and deaths.

Choosing the right sleep environment for your baby is key for their safety. Before you buy any baby sleep products, take a moment to consider safety. Some products that look convenient may not be safe for sleep.

The only products that your baby needs for safe sleep are:

A crib, cradle, or bassinet that meets Canada safety regulations
A firm, flat mattress with a tightly fitted sheet
Simple, fitted sleepwear like a sleeper

Avoid products:

With soft padding
Without a firm, flat sleeping surface
That can cause your baby to overheat
