Did you know that GEPH provides free well water testing to residents whose drinking water comes from a private well? Water samples are tested for two types of bacteria: total coliforms and E. coli. If these bacteria are in your water, they could cause stomach cramps, diarrhea, and other illnesses which can lead to additional health concerns.
We recommend all private well owners to have their water tested every spring, summer, and fall, regardless of taste or smell. Remember, the more samples you have tested, the more confident you can be about the quality of the water you and your family are drinking.
